Winemakers Dinner


You’re invited to a Winemakers Dinner with Hans and Therese Herzog.  Four courses specifically prepared by Whitebait Chef Jimmy Pask, to match four exclusive and Golden Tiger wines from Hans Herzog Vineyards.

Hans and Therese run an established, certified organic vineyard making only top-notch premium cuvées, their portfolio includes the finest examples to be found in New Zealand of several varieties, such as Arneis, Grüner Veltliner and Nebbiolo.

Nevertheless, the Herzogs remain largely under the radar as most of their tiny production is sold either to private clients, fine-dining restaurants around the world, or through their seasonal bistro and cellar door.

This exclusive connoisseurship makes us doubly proud to present some of their grandest wines at a very special, one-off dinner designed to showcase Hans’ signature style.

Our menu culminates in a taste of their incredibly rare 2013 Trockenbeerenauslese Riesling which is strictly allocated in single-bottle quantities, only available when purchased in person at the estate for $240 a bottle.  So you’re in for a treat!

The menu consists of:

  • Cold smoked Leigh kingfish with golden beetroot, braeburn apple, hazelnut and damson
  • Market fish and shellfish roasted in the Josper oven Catalan style with saffron broth and romescada
  • Rimutaka wild venison barbequed over manuka with smoked beetroot, boudin noir, treacle and chocolate
  • Feijoa sorbet with yoghurt, white chocolate ganache and feijoa skin meringue
